Rent Right When You Arrive in Japan: WHILL Rental Service Launches at Haneda Airport Terminal 2
Expanding accessibility to welcome international travelers visiting Japan
15 Jun 2026

Tokyo, Japan, June 15, 2026 — WHILL, Inc. announced that a rental service for WHILL mobility devices will launch at Haneda Airport Terminal 2 in Tokyo.
The service joins "MoVA," a mobility service demonstration project led by ANA Holdings aimed at enabling seamless travel from the airport to travelers' final destinations, as one of the rentable mobility options.
The launch follows earlier rollouts at Narita International Airport and other locations. With international travel to Japan continuing to grow alongside the country's aging population, WHILL aims to expand accessibility so that every visitor can explore Japan more freely and comfortably.
Research shows that many people hesitate to travel due to concerns about getting around. If these barriers were removed, the potential universal tourism market in Japan is estimated at approximately 42 million people (as of 2023) — roughly 1.5 times the current market size — and both the actual and potential markets are projected to keep growing through 2035 (*1). With visitor numbers to Japan also on an upward trend (*2), building an accessible environment where travelers of all ages and abilities can explore with ease has become increasingly urgent.
Rental services offering temporary use of WHILL devices are already available at Fukuoka Airport, Naha Airport (Okinawa), Haneda Airport Terminal 1, and other locations across Japan. The services are popular with both domestic and international travelers, drawing feedback such as "I was able to enjoy my entire trip in comfort" and "I could travel with my whole family." With the addition of Terminal 2, travelers arriving at Haneda — Tokyo's most central international gateway — will now have even more convenient access to mobility devices, including WHILL.
