Tokyo, Japan, August 27, 2025 – WHILL is proud to announce that the WHILL Model R has been awarded the Outbound Award at the COOL JAPAN AWARD 2025, hosted by the Cool Japan Council (Kyoto City, Representative Director: Teruhiko Ueda). This award recognizes the Model R for its stylish design, exceptional ride comfort, and outstanding driving performance—including its small turning radius and stability on narrow and uneven roads.
The COOL JAPAN AWARD 2025 celebrates products, technologies, services, and culture that showcase Japan’s appeal to the world, judged by 100 international experts. From 418 entries, 46 were selected for the award through self-nomination, recommendations, and curator selection.
The award highlights WHILL Model R’s successful fusion of stylish design and high functionality. Its sophisticated appearance invites casual urban rides, while its performance effortlessly handles narrow alleys, cobblestones, and small bumps. Already deployed globally including the U.S. and Europe, the Model R continues to receive high praise from around the world.
In Japan, the Model R is available at approximately 3,000 stores nationwide, including automobile dealers, medical equipment providers, and electronics retailers.
